MSN, AIM and ICQ on your Blackberry for free!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:05 pm

Are you using Google Talk application on your Blackberry Instant Messaging? What about Yahoo messenger? Do you have contacts on other networks like ICQ, AIM, MSN?

Blackberry is promising MSN IM client for quite some time, but now it is more than year in coming and there is still nothing… Alternative is of course commercial application. One of these is very nice and very capable IM+, which recently gained in stability and works really great. I was using the 30-day free demo, so i know. But at $90 it is not the cheapest application around…

On PC end we have some choice of applications even in this department, although many use good old free Trillian which does the trick nicely. New open source aplication provide even more flexibility and advanced features. And paying for something, that should be free as to watch movies online well, that is another story. But now you can IM your frind about that movie you liked so much, or even find yourself in front of cinema … All thanks to multi-network IM support in Blackberry…

Today, we are introducing an howto guide howto on using all your IM contacts in one free Blackberry application: Google Talk (ok, you might still use Yahoo messenger separately but still). Few years ago, an open IM transport protocol was born: meet Jabber. Jabber is special, as it offers so called transporter protocols. You might think of it as an disability assistive device or electric wheelchair that can transport IM messages between different IM networks, something they can not do on their own. It is a good think that Jabber is open source!
